Course Objectives:
Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Assess whether and how copyright law and policy impacts quality instruction and academic values;
- Describe key copyright law principles and their application to course development, instruction and libraries;
- Assess institutional copyright policies in light of case law and statutory requirements;
- Assess institutional processes for managing copyrighted information;
- Review various approaches to open access initiatives;
- Analyze the DMCA and its impact on colleges and universities;
- Develop potential education and policy solutions for managing copyrighted material on campus.
