MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE FOR ADDRESSABLE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM DAILY MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES Where required, the daily maintenance procedure shall be performed as follows: a. Basscomm maintenance staff shall report to Special Projects Directorate to sign on a daily basis. b. Basscomm maintenance staff do a work round for visual inspection of all devices installed in the building. c. Check the satisfactory operation of the fire alarm bell. d. Reset alarm zone facility. e. On completion of testing re-establish the systems integrity; ensure that all controls are returned to the normal condition. . Record the results of daily maintenance procedures in the log, including where possible, whether the fire alarm signal from the alarm zone facility was received at the fire control station g. Ensure that all switches are in the correct operating position. Inform the building owner or agent of any items requiring corrective action. WEEKLY MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES Where required, the weekly maintenance procedure shall be performed as follows: h. Activate system isolate switch to check is functionality i.

Check the proper operation of associated visual alarm indicators by initiating a simulated fire alarm on an alarm zone facility. The above test shall be carried out in a manner acceptable to the fire control station. j. Check the satisfactory operation of the fire alarm bell. k. Reset alarm zone facility. l. On completion of testing re-establish the systems integrity; ensure that all controls are returned to the normal condition. m. Record the results of weekly maintenance procedures in the log, including where possible, whether the fire alarm signal from the alarm zone facility was received at the fire control station n.

Ensure that all switches are in the correct operating position. Inform the building owner or agent of any items requiring corrective action. o. Clean and dust the head of the detectors in each loop. 2. MONTHLY: The monthly maintenance procedure shall be performed as follows a. Initiate a simulated fire alarm on an alarm zone facility so as to transmit an alarm to the fire control station. Check the proper operation of all associated visual alarm indicators. Where possible check that the alarm was correctly received at the control fire station.

The above test shall be carried out in a manner acceptable to the fire control station. b. Check the satisfactory operation of the fire alarm bell. c. Reset alarm zone facility to normal. d. Test each alarm zone facility to confirm its ability to operate the master alarm facility. e. Check that all visual and audible indicators are operating correctly. f. Check that all control and indicating equipment is in a clean and operational condition, and effectively dust sealed. g. Clean and dust the head of the detectors in each loop. . Insure that all fire indicator panels, repeater panels and mimic panels are clearly visible and readily accessible. i. Simulate fault conditions on all alarm loop to ensure that fault indicators, both audible and visual, where applicable, are operating correctly from each alarm loop facility. j. Check the battery condition by operating the battery test facility for 1 min, and record the battery condition in the log. k. Inspect all manual release mechanisms and all break Glasses to ensure they are secure, undamaged.
