Reflection Paper
Reflection Theo 104 October 10, 2011 Liberty University Online Introduction My paper is to reflect on what I have learned from my class and my understanding of the Christians view. I will focus on three important factors for my paper. One of them is Did Jesus claim to be God? My second focus will be if a person is a Christian, does it matter how they live their life. Finally I will focus on what can the local church do to better communicate God’s love to your community. Did Jesus Claim to be God? Did Jesus claim to be God? According to what I have read no Jesus did not claim to be God, he clearly claimed to be the Messiah and Son of God.
As for the Jews they had an understood that this meant Jesus was equating himself with God: “he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. As I read John 5:17-18; it states that Jesus said to them, My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working. For this reason the Jews tried all the harder to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. The reason for this claim is because according to our Bible it tells us that Jesus was not saying he was God but that he was equally to God.
As we go on in the Bible it explains how Jesus did miracles and he fulfilled the prophecy in ways to go and serve his people; for us to know that he does exist. Another example to explain how we know that Jesus did not claim to be God but he stated he was equal to God by stating these outline to people: Jesus told the Jews, “I and the Father are one. ” John 10:24-38, and Jesus told the disciples that you call me the Teacher and Lord, and rightly so, for that is what I am, John 13:13. Therefore; I will have to disagree that Jesus was claiming to be God.
In Jesus claim to be God he was allowing his spirit to become an intimate part of our daily lives. The claim was not made by Jesus that he was God but he had walked him. If a person is a Christian, does it matter how they live their life? I really do believe it does matter how a person lives their life if they are a Christian. According to what I have read, one man – the Apostle Paul – said that he no longer lived for himself, but with a new and living belief and faith in Jesus Christ, “who loved me, and gave himself for me. ” (Galatians 2:20) Paul’s absolute belief that Jesus had given his life for Paul personally changed him completely.
He knew that Jesus died because of sin, not just the disobedience of all humanity, but because of Paul’s own wicked life in the past (Bull, n. d. ). Christian is to make sure that they lead us in the best way possible; especially how God’s planned it to be. Therefore; when we are seeing Christian who is not living according to God any human beings would wonder how they can lead us; when they are not living their life the right way. If a Christian is to save unbelievers, I do believe that it is important for them to make sure that they are living the life as a Christian.
My view are the matter is they must remember that the community is watching them and people are so quick to catch on to any kind of errors of how a person might be living their life. What can your local church do to better communicate God’s love to your community? I believe that the local church can start by going out into the community and teaching them the Words of God. I truly believe that Christian can help the church to reflect Christ by helping them to know God and taking the time to invite the community to their church, in other words showing them the way to God’s love and how we are suppose to get to know the Father.
This would be a way to help the local church in any community to relate God’s words or teach them. I believe that sometimes people are ignorant to things that they do not understand but if true Christian takes the time to teaches them the Words and not judge them they will understand how to be Christians like us. As Mark16:15 stated preach the gospel to every creature that we cross. Therefore; if we are true Christians it is our calling to preach the words and show them the correct knowledge of Christianity and help them to be able to help others in their society to know the true meaning of God.
Another way to help reflect Christ better within our community is showing the community how the churches are coming together with them to help people understand their faith. I believe that Christian should stands together in helping people; when they are trying to teach the gospel to others for them to believe, the reason why people usually misread what a Christian is trying to teach them is because they have not really understood the meaning of the message and most of the time we have some people who are Christian that does not know how to teach the words without judging people.
As Matt 6:9 and Luke 11:2 stated as well, it said when teaching his disciples to pray, Jesus urged them to address God as their Father in Heaven. I believe that if people live by these scripture we will be able to teach people in our community and change their understanding about God and maybe bring closer to God then away from him. Conclusion My conclusion, as I took this class my understanding of Christians has being a good outlook for me, in the way that God wants us to live. As I have outline about Jesus did not claim to be God, but he did state that I am the Fathers and Son.
And if a person is a Christian, does it matter how they live their life, yes it does because they are suppose to be God leader in order to help others come to God. The local church can communicate God’s love to the community by going out and taking time to help the community understand the meaning of God.
