Why Us Constitution Is Successful
Emma Dolan 2nd hr Braisted 10/28/09 Constitution Persuasive Essay The United States of America has been such a successful country because it is led by the Constitution. The Constitution has helped the United States because of the rights it gives the citizens, and the equality it pursues. The Constitution makes both the national and state governments just as powerful as the people, which may make others want to move to the United States because of the freedom that is given.
Also, the USA has been a strong country for hundreds of years, and the Constitution has been there and guided the country for that entire time. The main reason that the United States has been so successful, tying in with the Constitution, is that it has three branches of government. The three different parts are the legislative, executive, and judicial branch, all of which have equal power in the government. This makes the government of the United States appealing, because as the three branches check and balance one another, the government becomes more stable.
All three branches have to do with making, enforcing, and interpreting laws, making the system that the Constitution introduced to the United States crucial for laws and judgments to be made possible. This makes America an even better place to be and the Constitution even more successful because of the stability and understanding it provides to the United States’ government. A second reason why the Constitution has been so successful, therefore making the United States so successful, are amendments.
Amendments are basically described as things that can be added to the Constitution or change the Constitution. The men who wrote the Constitution instilled a belief that the government of the United States should stay in the future and change with the times. This made the United States more desirable because it enables the citizens to be able to have an opportunity to change the Constitution, although it is very hard to make happen. It is because of an amendment that slavery no longer exists in the United States today.
Also, the basic freedoms granted to citizens are stated in the first amendment; giving the people the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Lastly, the United States is a democracy. The Constitution made sure that the country was run by the people, and improved for the sake of the people. Voters, who are citizens, choose government officials. Also, the way that the Constitution makes the government just as powerful as the citizens makes many others believe that the United States is a government that is stable, fair, and strong as possible.
The democracy of the United States makes for a strong country, but also a desirable one. The United States Constitution has been very successful and helped greatly in the aid of the United States becoming a successful country. The Constitution grants freedoms to the people, but also is the oldest living constitution in existence. Although the Constitution is old, it has changed with the times and created a country that is not only desirable, but also as strong as can be.
